Description

This bottom bracket fits Italian-threaded frames with 70mm wide shells and 35mm inner diameters—the standard you'll find on most Italian-brand road bikes from Bianchi, Colnago, Pinarello, and others. The system works specifically with Campagnolo Ultra-Torque cranks, which use a 25mm spindle diameter split between the two crank arms. CeramicSpeed's bearings press directly onto the spindle halves before you thread the cups into the frame, which differs from conventional bottom brackets where the bearings stay in the cups. This design keeps the bearings closer to the frame's centerline and reduces the cantilever load on the spindle.

CeramicSpeed builds these bearings by hand in Denmark using ceramic balls that roll in hardened steel races. The ceramic material resists corrosion and maintains a smoother surface finish than steel balls, which reduces friction and extends bearing life. The bottom bracket comes in Standard or Coated versions. The Standard uses ceramic balls in hardened steel races. The Coated version adds a metallic coating to those races that makes them harder and smoother, which lowers drag further and increases durability. Both versions get CeramicSpeed's All Round Grease applied during assembly. The grease formula works specifically with ceramic bearings and doesn't break down the way some standard greases do when they contact ceramic surfaces.

The package includes everything needed for installation: the bottom bracket assembly, two bearings that press onto the spindle, a wave washer that goes between the bearing and crank arm to eliminate play, a spacer tube, and CeramicSpeed's All Round Grease. The Italian threading means the drive-side cup threads in counterclockwise—opposite from English-threaded bottom brackets. You'll need a bottom bracket tool with the correct interface for CeramicSpeed cups to install this properly. The system weighs 64 grams and accommodates Ultra-Torque cranks with 79mm spacing between the bearing seats.
