Description
Carbon frames built for gravel racing walk a difficult line between road-bike stiffness and the compliance needed to survive hours on deteriorating surfaces. The Aspero's latest iteration keeps the aggressive geometry and power transfer that defined the original while dropping the seat stays to soften the rear end without adding suspension weight or complexity. That design change also opens mud clearance between the tire and chainstays, a lesson Cervelo learned from watching Unbound riders fight conditions that exceeded what ISO minimum clearances could handle. The frame uses a T47a threaded bottom bracket shell, making bearing service straightforward without specialized tools, and routes cables internally through a headset that shares dimensions with the R5, Soloist, and Caledonia for stem interchangeability across the lineup.
The Aspero GRX RX610 sits at an entry point in the lineup but shares the same carbon frame as higher-spec builds. Shimano's GRX RX610 shifters pair with RX820 derailleurs front and rear, running a 46/30T crankset against an 11-36T cassette for a gear range that handles sustained climbs without sacrificing top-end speed on paved approaches. The 2x configuration appeals to riders who prefer smaller gear jumps over the wide-range cassettes typical of 1x setups. Hydraulic disc brakes with RT66 rotors deliver consistent modulation whether descending loose switchbacks or scrubbing speed before tight corners.
Cervelo designed the frame around a Universal Derailleur Hanger, which provides flexibility for riders who might swap to SRAM Transmission drivetrains down the road. Internal cable routing keeps the cockpit clean, and the headset dimensions match those on the R5, Soloist, and Caledonia, meaning stems and bearing caps interchange across the lineup for riders who want a more integrated aesthetic....
