Derailleur Hanger
Size: R and S series 2003-2010
Description
Having a perfectly aligned derailleur hanger, tightly attached is the first step toward a perfect rear derailleur adjustment and optimal shifting. Usually a derailleur hanger becomes bent in a crash and/or the bike falls on the derailleur side. Sometimes they become bent in mysterious ways like your spouse or kids knocking your bike over and failing to mention this to you.
Of course, it is better to bend a hanger rather than the actual frame and the replaceable hanger is cleverly designed to take the brunt of a crash to save the frame. There are tools like the Park DAG-2.2 Derailleur Hanger Alignment Gauge for aligning a bent hanger, but once alloy is bent and straightened there is a loss in strength. Replacing a bent hanger with a new one is always the best option. Anyone traveling to races or events would be well served to have a new hanger ready in the tool kit or travel case. For those superstitious riders, having a new hanger at the ready will surely keep your existing hanger straight.
Cervelo offers 4 hangers in total. The first is for R and S series bikes from 2003-2010 (Cervelo part number DRH-R-2003). Cervelo debuted a new hanger in 2011 for the R5ca, R5, R3 and S5 and then promptly discontinued it for 2012 (Cervelo Part Number (DRH-R-2011). 2012 and newer road bikes use the Road 2012+ hanger (Cervelo part number DHR-R-2012). Finally, cervelo has a specific hanger for the C3, C5 and R3 Disc (part number DRH-WMN112). Return to Top
