Description
Performance e-bikes face a fundamental tension between motor integration and traditional cycling feel. Pack too much hardware into the frame and the bike handles like a commuter; hide it too aggressively and you sacrifice battery capacity or serviceability. Cervelo's Rouvida Rival XPLR AXS 1 approaches this problem with the same aerodynamic scrutiny the brand applies to its WorldTour race machines, repositioning the Fazua Ride60 battery vertically within the down tube to save 25 grams of aerodynamic drag while maintaining the visual proportions of a traditional road frame.
The Fazua Ride60 motor delivers 60 Nm of torque with a peak output of 450 watts, providing Class 3 pedal assistance up to 28 mph. The system's reputation centers on its ability to modulate power delivery based on rider input, ramping assist gradually rather than delivering abrupt surges that interrupt cadence. The 430Wh battery capacity sits in realistic territory for mixed-terrain rides of 40-60 miles depending on assist levels and elevation gain. An indicator panel integrated into the top tube displays battery status and includes a USB charging port for accessories.
The Rouvida platform ships with road-optimized geometry but accepts interchangeable dropouts that transform the frame into gravel configuration. These aren't simple flip chips adjusting a single pivot point. The dropout swap effectively rotates the entire frame geometry, altering head tube angle, bottom bracket height, and trail figures to produce handling characteristics distinct to each discipline. The road configuration delivers a 72-degree head tube angle in sizes Medium through XL, with 415mm chainstays providing the balanced handling associated with Cervelo's Caledonia endurance platform. Converting to gravel geometry requires dropout purchase through a Cervelo retailer, along with a firmware update performed by the shop.... Read More
