S5 Ultegra R8170 Di2 Bicycle
Description
Grand tour stage wins and the leader's jerseys that come with them share a common thread: a Cervelo S5 underneath the rider crossing the line. That racing pedigree carries straight through to the S5 Ultegra Di2, which runs the identical frameset campaigned at World Tour events. The bayonet fork, deepened head tube, and signature V-stem cockpit that define the S5's silhouette in the professional peloton deliver identical aerodynamic performance whether you're pinning on a number or heading out for a weekend ride. Cervelo puts the gains at 6.3 watts saved over the previous generation and at least 5 watts ahead of competing aero platforms, savings generated primarily at the front of the bike where the reshaped fork legs and one-piece integrated handlebar cut through the air.
The HB19 carbon cockpit shapes both how the S5 looks and how it performs against the wind. Cervelo's Plus-Four geometry brings the hood position 4cm narrower than the drops, putting you in a more efficient shape while cruising without giving up the stable leverage you want for sprinting and descending. Nine bar/stem combinations cover fit across the size range, and during the initial fitting period Excel can swap you into a different configuration at no added cost. Every size meets current UCI regulations, so the equipment in your hands matches what the pros line up on come race day.
Shimano's Ultegra Di2 R8170 groupset runs shifting through 12-speed wireless electronic communication. The hoods transmit wirelessly while the derailleurs connect by wired eTube cables to the seatpost-mounted battery, which tops up through a port in the rear derailleur. A 52/36 crankset pairs with an 11-34 cassette, giving you the low-end climbing range that the Force build's tighter 10-33 cassette gives up. Shifts land instantly under load, and the Ultegra front derailleur earns its reputation for smooth, quiet moves between chainrings.... Read More
