Description

Green jerseys, pink jerseys, yellow jerseys, and stage victories across cycling's grand tours share a common thread: the Cervelo S5 beneath the winners. That pedigree carries through to the S5 Ultegra Di2, which uses the identical frameset ridden at World Tour events. The bayonet fork, deeper head tube, and signature V-stem cockpit that distinguish the S5's silhouette in professional pelotons deliver the same aerodynamic performance whether the rider wears a number bib or weekend kit. Cervelo claims 6.3 watts saved over the previous generation and at least 5 watts faster than competing aero platforms, numbers generated primarily at the front of the bike where the reshaped fork legs and integrated one-piece handlebar slice through the air.

The HB19 carbon cockpit defines both the S5's appearance and its aerodynamic advantage. Cervelo's Plus-Four design narrows the hood position by 4cm compared to the drops, creating a more efficient body position when cruising while maintaining stable leverage for sprinting and descending. Nine bar/stem size combinations ensure proper fit across the size range, and Cervelo retailers can swap configurations at no additional cost during the initial fitting period. All sizes comply with current UCI regulations, putting the same equipment in amateur hands that professionals use on race day.

Shimano's Ultegra Di2 R8170 groupset handles shifting duties through 12-speed wireless electronic communication. The shifter hoods transmit signals wirelessly while the front and rear derailleurs connect via wired eTube cables to the seatpost-mounted battery, which charges through the rear derailleur's integrated port. A 52/36 crankset pairs with an 11-34 cassette, providing the low-end range for sustained climbing that the Force build's tighter 10-33 cassette sacrifices. Shifting remains instantaneous under power, with Ultegra's front derailleur particularly noted for smooth, quiet transitions between chainrings.... Read More
