Description
Keeping nutrition within reach during a race or long gravel effort usually means either stuffing jersey pockets until they sag or bolting on a bag that looks like an afterthought. The Cervelo Smartpak 400A takes a different approach—it mounts directly to top tube bosses and uses a rectangular profile that integrates with the frame rather than sitting on top of it. The shape follows the tube contour, which keeps the bag out of your knee path while maintaining a cleaner airflow than boxes that stick up from the frame.
Cervelo originally designed the Smartpak 400A for the Áspero gravel bike, but it works with any of their frames that have top tube mounting bosses, including the Caledonia. The bag ships with a baseplate that sits inside and transfers load to two M5 bolts—you're not relying on straps that shift around when you hit rough terrain. That rigid mounting means the bag stays put whether you're grinding through gravel sectors or hammering pavement between feed zones.
Construction uses a heavy denier weave along the central spine where the zipper runs and the mounting stress concentrates. The sides are a lighter weight waterproof synthetic that flexes to let you squeeze items in while still maintaining the bag's overall shape. All seams are welded rather than stitched, and the zipper is sealed, so the contents stay dry when the weather turns or when you're riding through standing water.... Read More
