Description
Swapping between 700C and 650b wheels changes more than just tire diameter—it shifts where the front axle sits relative to the frame, which affects handling geometry. The Cervelo Threaded Thru-Axle Fork Insert for Áspero frames addresses this with a dual offset design that lets you reposition the axle forward or rearward depending on which wheel size you're running. Instead of accepting whatever geometry results from a wheel swap, you can tune the front end to match the handling characteristics you want.
The insert installs in the fork dropout and provides the threaded receiver that your thru-axle screws into. What makes this version different from standard fork inserts is the offset mounting interface. Two positions are available: a forward position that Cervelo recommends for 700C wheels, and a rearward position designed for 650b setups. Both inserts must be oriented the same direction—you can't run one forward and one rearward—and changing position requires removing the fixing screws and rotating the inserts.
Aluminum construction keeps weight reasonable while providing the thread engagement strength that a 12mm thru-axle requires. The kit includes M4 fixing screws and washers for securing the inserts to the fork. Cervelo specifies Loctite 243 on the fixing screws to prevent them from backing out under vibration—this is a threadlocker application where you don't want things coming loose mid-ride. Torque the fixing screws to 2 N·m once the insert position is set, and the thru-axle itself to 12-15 N·m.... Read More
