Description
Knowing which engagement system lives inside your DT Swiss hub determines which freehub body you need, and that distinction trips people up more than any other compatibility question in the DT Swiss ecosystem. These 3-Pawl freehub bodies from DT Swiss are replacement units built specifically for DT Swiss 370 hubs — not the Ratchet, Ratchet EXP, or Ratchet LN systems found in the 240 and 350 series. The tell is in the seal: on 3-Pawl hubs, the seal sits on the freehub body itself, while Ratchet-based hubs place the seal on the hub shell. That physical difference means the two systems are not interchangeable, even though they share the DT Swiss platform.
Three drivetrain standards are covered here: Shimano HG for 11 and 12-speed road cassettes, Shimano Micro Spline for 12-speed Shimano mountain and road groupsets, and SRAM XDR for 11 and 12-speed SRAM road cassettes. Each version ships with a 12x142mm drive-side end cap included. Construction uses aluminum and steel with sealed bearings across all three variants.
Swapping a 3-Pawl freehub body is a tool-free job. Pull the axle, slide the old freehub off, drop in the new one, and reassemble. If you are converting your DT Swiss 370 wheelset to a different cassette standard — moving from Shimano HG to SRAM XDR, or adding Micro Spline compatibility for a new Shimano 12-speed groupset — this is the part that makes that conversion possible. The freehub body is also the component that wears over time as pawl engagement surfaces see repeated load cycles, so a direct replacement restores engagement feel without replacing the entire hub....
