The front rim's 49mm depth is purpose-shaped for crosswind stability, which matters more on gravel than on the road. Exposed ridgelines, open ranch roads, and agricultural flats all deliver unpredictable gusts that deeper front profiles can amplify into twitchy handling. ENVE's front-specific rim shape manages that airflow to keep steering inputs predictable, while the deeper 55mm rear rim on the companion rear wheel recovers the aero advantage behind the rider where crosswind sensitivity is less consequential.
