The shape is the same story that has kept riders on the Arione for two decades: a flat profile from nose to tail with a narrow nose, designed for riders with high flexibility who don't rotate their pelvis much while pedaling. That flatness is the whole point of the platform, since it lets you move considerably forward and back to find your ideal power and comfort centers rather than locking you into one sit position.
