When you take workouts indoors, Tacx desktop app connectivity lets compatible trainers read your pedal-based power alongside the trainer's own measurements.

Battery life runs up to 120 hours on either 4 LR44/SR44 button cells or 2 CR1/3N batteries. Garmin recommends CR1/3N as the primary option for the Rally generation. The pedal body uses threaded metal inserts for battery cap attachment rather than plastic threads that wear over time. Battery cap contacts got redesigned for Rally to improve reliability compared to Vector 3 pedals. You can swap batteries roadside if needed since the cap removes with a coin or the included tool. IPX7 water resistance handles rain and road spray without affecting the electronics.

The pedals ship with red SPD-SL cleats that provide 4.5 degrees of float. You can swap to Shimano's blue fixed cleats or yellow 6-degree float cleats depending on your preference. Tension adjustment uses a 3mm hex key and follows standard SPD-SL adjustment range. The cleats mount to any three-bolt road shoe. Some riders report that yellow cleats have slightly more float on Rally pedals compared to standard Shimano SPD-SL pedals, but blue and red cleats maintain normal feel with proper tension adjustment.

The 53mm Q-factor matches standard road pedals. If you need wider stance, included 2mm washers bump Q-factor to 55mm by spacing the pedal body farther from the crank arm. Stack height measures 12.2mm, which sits lower than many pedal-based power meters and provides clearance for cornering. The 105-kilogram maximum rider weight covers most cyclists. The complete pedal pair weighs 328 grams.

Upgrade path works if you want dual-sensing later. The Rally RS100 upgrade kit adds a right-side power sensor to measure actual left and right leg contributions independently rather than doubling one side. Installing the upgrade requires buying the upgrade spindle and threading it into the right pedal body. If you start with single-sensing now and discover you have significant leg imbalance through other testing methods, you can add the right sensor without replacing the entire pedal system. Conversion kits for Rally RK (LOOK KEO) or Rally XC (Shimano SPD mountain) bodies let you move the same power-sensing spindles between different cleat platforms as your riding changes.
