Roctane Energy Gels differ from regular GU Gels in that Roctane Gels are designed for the times when you are going long or for high intensity workouts. Both gels contain 100 calories and deliver energy from a simple and complex carbohydrate blend which uses non-competing duel pathways to help maximize carbohydrate absorption and utilization while diminishing stomach distress. However, Roctane gels pack in 3 times the amount of branch chain amino acids.
Branch chain amino acids (BCAA) are the building block of protein and contribute to energy production. They help to prevent mental fatigue and also kick-start recovery. In addition to BCAA’s, Roctane contains the amino acid OKG (Ornithine Alpha-Ketoglutarate) to promote muscle repair and beta-alanine which promotes the formation of intramuscular buffer carnosine. In addition to more amino acids, you also get more sodium in Roctane gels. The amount varies by flavor from 125 to 185mg. Some flavors also have 35mg of caffeine to help mental focus.
