Description

Honey sits at the foundation of the Honey Stinger Gold Energy Gel, making up 95% of the formula. That matters because honey delivers a near-equal mix of glucose and fructose, which absorbs efficiently without the stomach distress that synthetic gels can cause. The Gold gel is the original Honey Stinger formula and remains a staple for endurance athletes who need mid-ride fueling that actually tastes like something they want to eat. Each packet delivers 100 calories and 27 grams of carbohydrates in a smooth consistency that goes down easily when you're breathing hard.

Beyond the honey base, the formula includes a full B-vitamin complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B12) plus electrolytes from potassium citrate and salt. The B vitamins support energy metabolism during sustained efforts, while the electrolytes help offset what you're losing through sweat. At 50mg sodium and 85mg potassium per packet, the electrolyte content is modest but provides a baseline you can supplement with drink mix or tabs depending on conditions and sweat rate.

The 24-pack format brings the per-packet cost down compared to buying singles, and the 18-month shelf life from manufacture means you can stock up without worrying about expiration. Athletes who've dialed in their fueling strategy often land on one or two products that work consistently, and keeping a box on hand eliminates the pre-event scramble to find nutrition.... Read More

I have to vouch for power bar gels, they are much improved over years' past indeed. The taste is better, and is less-gooey going down, in fact they're easier going down then many of the other choices out there -- I also use them. And yes, this gel does provide for energy sustainability on longer rides -- just take with water, and also use a powder mix energy drink as well.

I used to use GU all the time (and still do sometimes), but actually now I find powerbar gels to go down even easier, and yes, they do the same thing when it comes to fueling you up and keeping you going on long rides.

Taken in advance of a ride definitely ensures a more well balanced and sustained energy level. Take with water it's easy on the belly and goes down easy. Compared to other more expensive gels, this gel does the same thing, but for less!
