K-Edge designs their Garmin mounts with a co-polymer plastic insert that interfaces with your computer's quarter-turn tabs. This insert is intentionally the weakest link in the system. When you crash, the plastic breaks instead of the aluminum mount body or the tabs on your Garmin. That's the design working as intended.
