Description

Sixteen grams of compressed CO2 is the standard cartridge size for road cycling, and for good reason: it holds enough gas to fully inflate a 700c tire to riding pressure in a single shot. The Lezyne 16 Gram CO2 Cartridge uses the industry-standard threaded interface, which means it works with Lezyne's inflator heads and virtually every other threaded CO2 inflator on the market. If you already have an inflator you like, these cartridges will fit it.

The math on CO2 capacity depends on your tire volume. A 16g cartridge will push a typical road tire (700x25c or 700x28c) to around 100-120 psi—full race pressure from completely flat. Move up to gravel tires in the 38-40mm range and you're looking at 40-50 psi from one cartridge, which is still rideable pressure for most setups. For high-volume mountain bike tires, 16g gets you roughly 25-30 psi in a 26" tire—enough to limp home, but you might want to carry a second cartridge or size up to 20g or 25g for trail riding.

CO2 fills tires in seconds rather than minutes, which matters when you're standing on the shoulder of a busy road or trying to rejoin a group ride. The trade-off is that CO2 permeates through rubber faster than air, so you'll want to top off with a floor pump when you get home. Some riders carry both a mini pump and a cartridge—the CO2 for speed when it counts, the pump as unlimited backup.... Read More
