The LOOK Keo Blade Carbon Ceramic pedals use a carbon composite body that reduces weight while maintaining structural requirements for road pedaling forces. A chromoly axle runs on ceramic bearing systems that reduce friction and extend service intervals compared to stainless steel bearings. The Blade platform uses a spring-less retention mechanism where cleat engagement comes from a carbon leaf spring built into the pedal body rather than a traditional coil spring. This design eliminates the tension adjustment found on other Keo pedals—engagement force is fixed by the carbon leaf spring.

These pedals use the three-bolt Keo cleat system with adjustable float from zero to nine degrees depending on which cleats you install. The pedals ship with grey Keo cleats that provide 4.5 degrees of float, which LOOK includes as the standard cleat with all their pedals. You can swap to red cleats for zero degrees of float or black cleats for nine degrees depending on your preference. The Blade retention mechanism reduces the number of moving parts that can wear or require maintenance compared to spring-based systems. The carbon body includes an integrated stainless steel cleat contact plate that interfaces with the cleat during engagement and release cycles. The two-sided entry system allows clipping in from either side of the pedal, which eliminates the need to orient the pedal before engagement.

The ceramic bearings differentiate this model from the standard Keo Blade Carbon. Ceramic bearings offer reduced rolling resistance compared to steel bearings, which can improve efficiency during the pedal stroke. The bearing surfaces resist corrosion and maintain smooth rotation over extended use. The Keo Blade platform provides a contact surface area of 700 square millimeters, which distributes pressure across the shoe sole to reduce hotspots during long rides. Stack height—the distance between the pedal axle and the cleat mounting surface on the shoe—remains consistent with other Keo pedals, so switching between Blade and standard Keo pedals does not require saddle height adjustments.
