The carbon blade is the heart of how a Keo Blade pedal works. Instead of a coiled steel spring like the Keo 2 Max or Keo Classic uses, the Blade pedals use a carbon leaf spring that flexes to release the cleat. That design is what makes Blade pedals lighter and gives them a more consistent release feel, but it also means the blade is the wear part — and the part you'd want to replace if you've damaged one or want to change tension.
