The cleat body is made from composite material with metal wear plates on the contact surfaces. This construction balances durability against weight while providing the interface points that engage with the pedal's retention mechanism. The cleats allow for lateral float once engaged, which lets your foot rotate slightly on the pedal rather than being locked in a fixed position. Float reduces stress on knees and ankles during the pedaling motion.

These cleats work specifically with LOOK X-Track pedals and are not compatible with Shimano SPD or other two-bolt systems despite the similar mounting pattern. The cleat design includes adjustment slots that allow fore-aft positioning on the shoe sole before final installation.
