Description
The LOOK X-Track Race Carbon pedals use a carbon fiber-reinforced body to reduce weight while maintaining structural requirements for trail riding forces. A chromoly axle runs on sealed cartridge bearings that isolate rotation from dirt and water intrusion. The pedal face integrates a stainless steel cleat contact plate that handles engagement and release cycles without wearing down the carbon body. The X-Track platform uses a two-sided entry system that allows clipping in from either side of the pedal.
These pedals work with LOOK's two-bolt X-Track cleats and are not compatible with Shimano SPD cleats despite the similar mounting pattern on shoes. The cleat retention mechanism uses adjustable spring tension, accessible through a hex bolt at the rear of each pedal. Tension adjustment allows you to customize how much force is required to clip in and out. The sealed cartridge bearing system extends service intervals compared to loose ball bearing designs. When bearings eventually wear, the cartridge design allows for straightforward replacement.
The carbon body construction reduces pedal weight compared to the composite X-Track Race model while maintaining the same open design that sheds mud on trail rides. The contact plate provides a defined engagement zone that works when your shoes are covered in dirt. The pedal body sits close to the crank arm, maintaining a natural pedaling stance with narrow Q-factor positioning.
