Description
Bent disc brake rotors create noise, pad rub, and inconsistent braking feel that no amount of caliper adjustment can fix. The Park Tool DT-2.2 Rotor Truing Fork gives you a simple way to straighten those warped rotors without removing them from the wheel. The forked design straddles the rotor at the problem spot, and controlled pressure brings the metal back into plane. It's the same basic approach mechanics have used for years, refined into a purpose-built tool that won't scratch or gouge the braking surface.
The working end features a slot that fits rotors from 1.8mm to 2.3mm thick, covering the full range of standard and heavy-duty rotors you'll encounter on road, gravel, and mountain bikes. The slot edges are radiused and polished to prevent marring—important because any surface damage to a rotor can compromise pad contact and braking performance. The handle length provides enough leverage for controlled bending without making it easy to overcorrect and create a new wobble in the opposite direction.
Using the DT-2.2 takes some practice and a light touch. The technique involves spinning the wheel slowly, identifying where the rotor deflects toward the pads, positioning the fork at that spot, and applying gentle pressure in the opposite direction. Small corrections work better than aggressive bends—you can always add more pressure, but over-bending means starting the process again from the other side. A truing stand or the brake caliper itself serves as your reference point for checking progress.... Read More
