Description
Disc brake pad rub is one of the most common annoyances on any bike with disc brakes, and a warped rotor is usually the culprit. Rotors warp from heat, impacts, even just leaning the bike against something the wrong way. You can try bending a rotor back with your bare hands, but your fingers transfer skin oil to the braking surface, and the leverage you get from thumbs and fingertips is imprecise at best. Park Tool's DT-2.2 Rotor Truing Fork gives you a dedicated tool for the job — one that keeps your hands off the braking surface and lets you apply controlled, targeted force exactly where the rotor needs it.
The DT-2.2 is an update to the original DT-2 design. Where the DT-2 had 2 slots of different depths, the DT-2.2 adds a third slot configuration: 1 long slot and 2 short slots, which expands compatibility to accommodate any rotor design or thickness up to 2.5mm. That 2.5mm figure matters because some newer 4-piston brake systems use thicker rotors than the traditional 1.8mm standard, and the widened long slot on the DT-2.2 handles those without issue. The short slots give you more leverage for broader corrections at the rotor arms, while the long slot isolates a narrower section for fine-tuning specific bends in the braking track.
The whole thing is laser-cut from steel, so there's real substance to it — you're not going to flex or deflect the tool before the rotor moves. The centered handle is vinyl-dipped for grip and comfort, which helps when you're making repeated small adjustments. If you're pairing this with a Park Tool DT-3 Rotor Truing Gauge on a truing stand, you get a proper feedback loop: the gauge shows you exactly where the deviation is, and the DT-2.2 lets you correct it in small, measured increments. You can also use it with the wheel on the bike, eyeballing pad clearance through the caliper slot, though you'll get more precise results in a truing stand.... Read More
