Internally routed frames look clean until you need to replace a cable, hose, or electronic wire. Then you're staring into a 6mm hole with a flashlight, trying to fish the end of a housing through a downtube with a bent spoke and a lot of hope. Park Tool's IR-1.3 Internal Cable Routing Kit replaces the improvised approach with a magnet-guided system that covers shift housing, brake housing, hydraulic hose, and electronic shifting wire across carbon fiber, titanium, and aluminum frames.

The kit includes 5 plastic-coated braided steel guide cables, each 188cm (74") long, with a magnet on the leading end and a specific fitting on the other. You feed the guide cable into the frame, locate it from the outside using the included guide magnet, and walk it to the exit port. Once the guide cable is through, you attach your housing, hose, or wire to the appropriate fitting and pull it back through. The opposite-polarity magnets on the guide cables seek and attach inside the frame tubes, so you're not pushing blind.

The 5 guide cable fittings each handle a different routing scenario. The barbed adapter threads into standard brake and shift cable housing as well as hydraulic brake hose. The rubber adapter grips electronic shifting wire from Shimano Di2, SRAM RED eTAP, FSA K-Force WE, and Campagnolo EPS. The Di2-specific adapter clips into Shimano E-tube Di2 wire and fits through frame holes as small as 6mm. A separate EW-SD300-specific adapter handles Shimano's newer Di2 wire connector used with current Dura-Ace, Ultegra, and 105 Di2 groupsets.
