Description

Bearings, threads, and press-fit interfaces all need grease to function properly and resist corrosion, but not every grease is formulated with bicycle-specific applications in mind. Park Tool's PPL-1 PolyLube 1000 is a polyurea-based lubricant built for the full range of bicycle service work: headsets, bottom brackets, cranks, pedals, hubs, and threaded fasteners. The polyurea thickener gives it high shear strength, which means the grease film holds up under load instead of squeezing out of the bearing path when things get tight.

The working temperature range on PolyLube 1000 runs from -30°F to 473°F (-34°C to 245°C), so it stays put whether you're riding through winter slush or generating heat in a hub bearing on a long descent. It repels moisture rather than absorbing it, which matters any time you're riding in wet conditions or washing your bike regularly. Water intrusion is the main reason bearings pit and threads seize, and a grease that sheds water instead of emulsifying with it keeps those surfaces protected between service intervals.

PolyLube 1000 is compatible with conventional greases, so you don't need to strip every trace of old grease before applying it during a repack or reassembly. It's also carbon-safe, which means you can use it on carbon seatpost interfaces, carbon steerer tubes, and press-fit bottom bracket shells without worrying about material degradation. The 4 oz tube has a tapered nozzle that lets you apply grease directly where you need it without making a mess of your workbench. If you're building up a home toolkit and want one grease that covers bearing service, thread prep, and assembly work across your entire bike, the PPL-1 handles all of it.
