Description

Pedal threads are one of the tighter interfaces on a bicycle, and they get worse with time. Steel spindles threaded into aluminum crankarms develop galvanic corrosion that bonds them together, and standard 15mm wrenches rarely have the handle length or head clearance to break them free without rounding flats or skinning knuckles. Park Tool built the PW-4 Professional Pedal Wrench specifically for this job, with a chromoly steel construction designed to handle daily shop use without flexing or wearing out.

The asymmetrical head carries 2 wrench openings at 30° and 45° angles, which means you can engage pedal flats regardless of where the crankarm sits in its rotation. You don't have to reposition the bike or spin the cranks to find a workable angle. The head profile is thin enough to slip between crankarm and pedal body on tight-clearance setups where adjustable wrenches and standard box-end tools won't fit. That clearance matters on modern crankarms with wider profiles and compact pedal platforms.

The 14" handle length gives you the leverage to break seized pedals free with controlled, steady force rather than short jerky pulls that risk rounding the flats. The round vinyl-dipped grip keeps the handle comfortable during multiple pedal swaps and prevents the wrench from digging into your palm the way flat-profile wrenches do. If you're building up bikes, swapping pedals for demo days, or just maintaining your own fleet, this is the same wrench hanging on the pegboard in most professional service departments. One note: this wrench fits pedals with external 15mm wrench flats. Some pedals, particularly clipless models from Shimano and others, use only a hex socket fitting behind the axle and have no external wrench flats at all.
