Park Tool SBS-1.3 Socket and Bit Set
Description
Reach for a torque wrench on a modern bike and you quickly run into a problem: the fasteners you need to hit precise values on are hex and Torx recesses, not the six-point nuts a standard socket set is built around. Park Tool assembled the SBS-1.3 to close that gap. It's an 18-piece collection of sockets and bits chosen around the fastener sizes that actually show up on bicycles, all cut to 3/8" drive so they thread straight onto a torque wrench, ratchet, or breaker bar without adapters.
The bit selection covers the range you meet on a build. Hex bits run 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8mm for the everyday stem, seatpost, and bottle-cage hardware, while long-reach hex bits in 5, 6, and 10mm get down into recessed and deep bolts where a stubby bit can't seat fully. Long-reach Torx-compatible bits in T25, T30, and T40 handle rotor bolts, chainring hardware, and the growing number of components spec'd around Torx heads. That long-reach geometry is the detail that matters when a bolt sits at the bottom of a counterbore and a standard bit leaves you fishing.
On the socket side, six metric sizes in 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, and 15mm cover axle nuts, bolt heads, and the general hardware you find across most bicycle platforms. The set also includes a 1" socket sized specifically to drive many Park Tool freewheel, cassette lockring, and bottom bracket tools, including the FR-1.3, FR-5.2, and BBT-22. If you already run those tools by hand, this socket lets you put them on a torque wrench for repeatable lockring and bottom bracket installs.... Read More
