Description
Tight tubeless tire and rim combinations have a way of humbling even experienced mechanics. You can work the bead with your thumbs until your hands cramp, but some setups just won't cooperate without a lever. Park Tool's TL-4.2 Tire Lever Set is built around a wide, flat tip profile that engages more of the bead at once, letting 2 levers do the work that narrower designs need 3 for. The tip is thinner at the leading edge for easier entry under the bead, but the body widens out to distribute force across a larger contact area on the rim flank.
Each lever has an integrated spoke hook on both ends, so you can lock the first lever onto a spoke and free up both hands to work the second lever around the rim. That matters most on tight-fitting clincher and tubeless setups where the bead snaps back the moment you let go. The short, flat tip geometry also keeps the lever away from rim tape during installation, which is worth paying attention to if you're running tubeless and don't want to puncture your seal without realizing it.
The 2 levers snap together into a single compact unit that fits in a saddlebag, jersey pocket, or tool roll without rattling around. At 35 grams for the set, they add almost nothing to your carry weight. The material is a glass fiber reinforced plastic that resists the flex and snap failures you get from cheaper composite levers, particularly on high-tension tubeless beads where a flimsy lever will fold or crack before the tire gives.
