Description
Disc brakes have taken over professional cycling and consumer production alike, yet Pinarello continues engineering rim brake versions of their flagship race frame with the same development resources as the disc models. The Dogma F Rim represents that commitment — not a legacy holdover or a disc frame with caliper mounts added, but a dedicated rim brake platform where brake bridge placement, fork crown geometry, and cable routing all optimize for this braking system specifically. For riders who prefer the direct lever feel, reduced weight, and mechanical simplicity of rim brakes, this is the race bike that validates that choice at the highest level of frame engineering available.
TorayCa T1100 1K Dream Carbon with Nanoalloy Technology forms the frame structure, using the same fiber specification found on WorldTour team bikes. Pinarello targets 860 grams for an unpainted size 53 rim brake frame, marginally lighter than the disc version while maintaining the stiffness characteristics that define the Dogma platform. The asymmetric tube shaping compensates for uneven forces created by the drivetrain, balancing torsional loads so power transfers cleanly from the bottom bracket to the rear wheel. An Italian threaded bottom bracket shell simplifies service compared to press-fit alternatives and eliminates the creaking issues that plague bonded-in bottom brackets on carbon frames.
Direct mount rim brake calipers attach to optimized mounting points on the fork crown and rear brake bridge, providing stopping power through a mechanical interface that requires no bleeding, no rotor truing, and no hydraulic maintenance. The weight savings from eliminating disc brake hardware, rotors, and thru-axle assemblies compounds across the complete build. Rim brake wheel changes remain tool-free and immediate — an advantage that matters during supported events where neutral service wheels are rim brake equipped.... Read More
