Description
Thirty Grand Tour victories inform the geometry and construction of this mid-range race bike. The F5 borrows heavily from the Dogma F flagship, translating its aerodynamic shaping and race-proven geometry into a more accessible platform built around Torayca T700 carbon fiber. This particular grade of carbon prioritizes vibration damping alongside stiffness, absorbing road imperfections while maintaining the responsive character expected from a competition-focused frame. The frame carries UCI approval for sanctioned racing, meaning it meets the governing body's regulations for tube dimensions and construction.
Asymmetric chainstay construction addresses the fundamental imbalance created by chain tension. Since drivetrain forces pull exclusively on the right side of the frame, the F5 uses different layup schedules and tube profiles on each chainstay to equalize flex characteristics and keep the rear wheel tracking straight under power. This approach has been a Pinarello signature since the brand first recognized how asymmetric loading demanded asymmetric solutions. The Italian threaded bottom bracket shell provides a traditional interface that simplifies crankset installation and future service work.
The Onda fork continues another long-standing Pinarello design language, using curved blades that reduce both longitudinal and lateral shock transmission while maintaining precise steering response. The 43mm rake works with the competition geometry across all nine frame sizes to deliver handling that rewards aggressive cornering and confident descending. Flat-mount disc tabs position the calipers for clean aerodynamic flow, complementing the frame's TiCR internal routing system that threads all cables and hoses through the headset junction for an uncluttered cockpit appearance. This routing system accommodates both electronic and mechanical drivetrains, offering flexibility for future component swaps.... Read More
