Description
Electric road bikes face an identity crisis that most manufacturers never solve: add a motor and battery, gain assistance, lose the feeling that made road cycling compelling in the first place. Pinarello built the Nytro E5 Road to challenge that tradeoff. The T700 Toray carbon frame carries the same asymmetric design principles found across their race lineup, with the non-driveside structured to compensate for chain forces on the right. The result handles like a traditional road bike that happens to have a tailwind whenever you need one.
The TQ-HPR50 drive unit sits at the core of that natural feel. German-engineered with harmonic pin ring transmission technology borrowed from robotics and aerospace applications, the motor delivers up to 50Nm of torque and 300 watts of peak power while running nearly silent. The complete drive system—motor, 360Wh integrated battery, and top tube display—adds roughly 3.9 kilograms to the frame weight. That restraint matters when the assist tapers off above 25 kilometers per hour and you're pedaling unassisted, as most road riding above that threshold becomes pure human effort regardless of motor specifications.
Pinarello's Onda fork handles the front end with the curved blade design they've refined since 2000, engineered to absorb road vibration while maintaining precise steering input. The fork flap conceals the front brake caliper for cleaner aerodynamics, and tapered steerer construction adds stiffness where it matters for handling confidence. The frame accepts tires up to 32mm wide, giving riders flexibility for varied road surfaces without sacrificing the responsive character that defines Pinarello's road geometry.... Read More
