Description

One-piece carbon cockpits eliminate the stem-to-bar interface entirely, and that junction point is where traditional setups accumulate flex, weight, and aerodynamic penalty. Reserve built the RD1 as a single unified structure, allowing the carbon layup to treat the entire cockpit as one continuous load path rather than two components bolted together. The approach pays dividends in stiffness-to-weight ratio—the structure responds to steering inputs and out-of-saddle efforts without the compliance that a clamped joint introduces.

Reserve developed the RD1 using the same carbon fiber expertise that established their reputation in the wheel market. Wind tunnel testing shows the bar saves 29 seconds over 40 kilometers compared to conventional round-tube handlebars, which translates to meaningful time savings in criteriums and road races where finishing positions often come down to single seconds. The aerodynamic profile extends from the stem face through the tops, hoods, and drops, with internal cable routing that keeps housing and wires out of the airstream entirely. Cables route through the bar and exit at the headset, integrating with the included Acros-compatible bearing cover.

The geometry targets aggressive road racing positions. A 75mm reach and 125mm drop put riders in a proven position for generating power while maintaining aerodynamic tuck, and the 6 degrees of flare opens the drops slightly for breathing room during extended efforts in the lower hand positions. The -6 degree stem angle works with most modern road frames designed around slammed or near-slammed cockpit setups.... Read More
