Description
Steel bottle cages occupy a specific corner of the bike accessory world — they're for riders building period-correct steel frames, classic randonneuring bikes, or modern builds that lean into a heritage aesthetic. Ritchey's Classic Bottle Cage fits that brief exactly. Made from stainless steel with a wide grip that holds bidons from both sides, it's built to keep bottles in place whether you're on rough cobblestones or rocky singletrack.
The cage is offered in two finishes — a brushed stainless and a polished silver — both of which play nicely with chrome lugs, polished cranks, and the kind of build kits where a black plastic cage would look out of place. At 43 grams , it's heavier than a carbon cage but not by much, and the weight buys you something carbon can't offer: a cage that flexes without cracking, won't UV-fade, and looks better after a few seasons of use, not worse.
Fit is the part that matters most with steel cages, and Ritchey's wide-grip design works with standard bottle diameters from most major brands. The bent stainless rod construction gives the cage spring tension that grips the bottle through bumps without making it a fight to pull out at speed. Mounts to standard water bottle bosses with two screws — bolts not included, but most frames come with them or you've got a few in your parts drawer.... Read More
