Description

Ritchey's Classic 2-Bolt Seatpost is the piece that pulls a modern build back toward its steel-era roots without giving up any of the function you'd expect from a current post. The high-polish silver finish is the giveaway — it's the same look Tom Ritchey has been running on his components for decades, and it pairs cleanly with a lugged steel frame, a polished stem, or a build where you just don't want another slab of matte black staring up from the seat tube. Underneath the finish, it's a 3D-forged 2014 aluminum post with a 25mm offset and a proven two-bolt clamp head.

The two-bolt design is the reason this post has stuck around. Fore and aft bolts let you dial in saddle angle in small, deliberate increments rather than the coarse tilt-and-hope adjustment you get from single-bolt clamps, and once you land on the right angle the two bolts lock the rails in a vise-like grip that doesn't creep on rough roads. The low-profile clamp keeps stress off lightweight saddle rails and won't bottom out on carbon-railed saddles, which is worth knowing if you're pairing this with a lighter perch.

Bolt orientation is aligned with the axis of the rails, which sounds like a small detail until you've stripped a saddle clamp trying to hold a saddle steady on a bumpy descent. That alignment maximizes the contact patch between clamp and rail and keeps the saddle from rotating under load. The internal shaft uses an oblong profile — thicker walls where the post sees the most bending stress at the clamp area, less material lower down where it isn't needed. That's how Ritchey gets the weight down to 245 grams in the 27.2 x 350mm size without resorting to carbon.... Read More
