Description

Integrated cockpits have become the default look on new bikes, but retrofitting that clean cable routing to an existing frame usually means proprietary parts that lock you into one brand. Ritchey's Comp Switch Stem takes a different approach — it's part of a modular system that hides up to four cables, wires, or hydraulic lines through the stem, headset, and into the frame, without requiring a specific frame or bar. The front end uses Ritchey's C220 handlebar clamp with a wider footprint for added stiffness, and the underside of the stem carries an enclosed channel that keeps housing off the head tube.

The system only works if you have the right frame architecture. It's built for bikes running a straight 1.5" head tube paired with a tapered 1-1/8" to 1.5" fork — the same setup you'll find on a lot of newer road, gravel, and endurance frames from brands like Wilier and Scott. The stem itself is the entry point, but the cables route through Ritchey's Switch headset spacers and into the Logic-E 1.5" headset, both sold separately. Before you order the stem, confirm your frame matches and grab the matching Switch headset and spacers, or the routing won't line up.

Construction is 3D-forged 6061 aluminum with stainless steel black bolts, finished in the BB Black colorway. The stem ships with a matching compression cap and the removable cable guide, so once you have the full Switch System in place, installation is straightforward — cables drop into the channel, the guide holds them in position, and the whole assembly threads into the headset without any interference with the bearings. Angle is a fixed 84° (-6°) and bar clamp is 31.8mm, which covers essentially every modern road and gravel handlebar.... Read More
