Description
Seatposts don't usually warrant much consideration beyond diameter and setback, but the Ritchey Comp Zero represents a specific solution for riders who want their saddle positioned directly over the bottom bracket. The zero-offset design places the saddle rail clamp in line with the post centerline, which matters for time trialists, triathletes, and anyone whose bike fit requires a forward saddle position that a setback post can't achieve. This is geometry correction, not just a component choice.
The post uses 7050 aluminum construction throughout, a heat-treatable alloy that Ritchey specs for its strength-to-weight characteristics at this price point. The two-bolt head design provides independent angle adjustment for the front and rear of the saddle, allowing precise tilt changes without affecting fore-aft position. Once you've dialed in your saddle angle, the two-bolt system holds it there—single-bolt designs can shift under repeated saddle loading, requiring periodic readjustment that this configuration avoids.
Ritchey machines these posts in two diameters: 27.2mm for frames with traditional seat tube dimensions and 31.6mm for modern oversized configurations. Both versions use the same head assembly and share the same 265mm insertion length, which provides adequate adjustment range for most frame sizes while keeping overall weight reasonable for an alloy post at this tier....
