Fit Headset Ext Cup EC30|25.4 1in
Color: Black
Description
Old 1" threadless steerers don't disappear just because the industry moved on. Steel road bikes, classic mountain frames, restoration builds, and plenty of single-speed and touring rigs still run a 1" fork — and when the headset bearings finally give up, you need a replacement that actually fits the 30mm head tube bore. The Ritchey Fit External Cup Headset (also called the RL1 in Ritchey's catalog) is the workhorse option for that job, sized as EC30/25.4 upper and EC30/26.4 lower for 1" applications.
Construction is straightforward and built to last: alloy cups paired with steel races and Ritchey's retainer bearings. That's the same external-cup architecture Ritchey has used for years on builds where the headset needs to install clean, hold preload, and not require attention. Stack height comes in at 28mm, which keeps the front end profile reasonable on frames where you don't have much steerer to spare.
Two compatibility notes worth flagging before you order. First, the compression cap is not included — if you're doing a full headset replacement and don't have a serviceable cap from the old setup, plan to source one separately. Second, this headset is not compatible with Ritchey WCS Carbon forks that use an integrated 45° crown race. For those forks you'll need a different headset spec. For standard 1" threadless steel and aluminum forks with a 26.4mm crown race seat, this is the right part.... Read More
