Description
Integrating the stem and handlebar into a single unit eliminates one of the most failure-prone junctions on a gravel bike—the stem-to-bar interface where torque loads concentrate during hard efforts and impacts. The Ritchey Superlogic Butano Ridge Handlebar/Stem Combo takes this approach using unidirectional carbon fiber construction throughout, bonding the stem section directly to the handlebar rather than relying on a mechanical clamp. This construction method removes the stack of aluminum interfaces, pinch bolts, and torque specifications that typically sit between your hands and the steerer tube, resulting in a cockpit that weighs substantially less while maintaining the stiffness needed for precise handling on technical terrain.
The handlebar geometry follows Ritchey's Butano Ridge template—a gravel-specific shape with 12 degrees of flare in the drops and a subtle 5-degree outsweep at the ramps. This combination keeps the hood position relatively narrow for efficient pedaling on pavement while opening up the drops for stability when the surface gets loose. The reach measures 75mm with a drop of 125mm, dimensions that position the drops within easy access without requiring an aggressive torso angle to use them effectively. Bar width options span 40cm to 46cm in 2cm increments, measured center-to-center at the hoods.
Stem length availability runs from 80mm through 120mm in 10mm increments, with each length maintaining the same 6-degree rise angle above horizontal. The steerer clamp uses a 1-1/8" standard with Ritchey's four-bolt faceplate design, though in this case the faceplate secures to the steerer rather than clamping a separate handlebar. Internal cable routing channels accommodate both mechanical and electronic shift systems, keeping housing and wires protected while maintaining the clean aesthetic that an integrated cockpit provides....
