Long-travel trail bikes ask a lot of the front end — repeated impacts, wide leverage from 780mm bars, and riders throwing their weight around in ways road stems never see. Ritchey built the Trail Stem to sit at that intersection, pairing a wide 4-bolt faceplate with a 6061 alloy body that holds up to the abuse of 5-6" travel bikes without the price tag of the WCS version. The C220-style clamp wraps further around the bar than a standard 4-bolt design, which spreads clamping force and reduces the risk of crushing thinner-walled riser bars.

Geometry is straightforward: 0° rise, 31.8mm bar clamp, and a 1-1/8" steerer interface. The 41mm-wide bar clamp gives you a broad contact patch for stiffness under hard cornering loads, and the forward-facing bolts make swapping bars a tidier job than fighting stem hardware from behind. Stack height on the steerer clamp is 42mm, so it plays nicely with modern trail cockpits and dropper remote routing.

This is the standard-tier Trail stem, not the WCS. You give up some grams versus the 2014 forged WCS Trail, but the C220-style clamp geometry, the stainless bolts, and the wide faceplate all carry over.
