Description

Rigid forks still make sense for specific applications—bikepacking rigs where suspension weight and maintenance become liabilities, or cross-country builds where every gram matters and the terrain doesn't demand travel. The Ritchey WCS Carbon Boost Mountain Fork serves this niche with a full carbon construction that weighs just 490 grams while providing the 110x15mm Boost spacing that modern mountain wheelsets require. This isn't a holdover design from the pre-suspension era; it's a purpose-built rigid fork engineered for current wheel standards and the riders who've made a deliberate choice to run without travel.

The tapered steerer measures 1-1/8" to 1-1/2" to interface with modern mountain bike head tubes, and the carbon layup extends through both the steerer and crown assembly. Ritchey specs the fork with a 51mm offset rake and 483mm axle-to-crown height, dimensions calculated to maintain reasonable handling geometry when installed on frames designed around 100-120mm suspension forks. The result keeps your bike's head angle and bottom bracket height in a rideable range rather than pitching the front end down into twitchy territory.

Carbon's vibration damping characteristics provide some of what suspension travel would otherwise handle, taking the edge off trail chatter and small impacts without the mechanical complexity of air springs and damper circuits. For long-distance events where fork maintenance mid-ride isn't an option, or for weight-obsessed racers willing to trade comfort for grams, the tradeoff makes practical sense. The fork accepts flat mount disc brake calipers and includes internal routing for a clean cable path.... Read More
