WCS Carbon Cross Cantilever Fork
Size: QR
Description
If you have an older cantilever brake cyclocross frameset with a 1⅛" headtube- be it steel, titanium, carbon or aluminum, you can still purchase a top performing carbon fork to replace or upgrade your current version. The WCS Carbon Cross Canti Fork is designed for the rigors of cyclocross and those who demand traditional cantilever brakes while using quick release axle hubs. Decades of experience between the course tape as well as building the bikes and components designed to win, serve to inform the performance and design details of this fork. The UD carbon fork employs a monocoque construction, and it's shaped and crown design are compatible with standard and integrated headsets- so it fits many older frames regardless of headtube design. It can even be run with a full oversized 44mm headtube provided you use the proper headeset without appearing awkward.
Ritchey's history with cyclocross runs long and deep, sort of like the mud sections of your favorite cross course, so you know the combination of weight, limited lateral deflection and appropriate vertical compliance have been engineered into the straight fork blade design. Tire clearance is more than adequate at 45mm, so your steed can double as a gravel-oriented bike as well. With a 398mm axle to crown measurement, the lift at the front your bike is minimal and more likely to work reasonably well with various cyclocross frame designs. Please be aware that Ritchey integrates a 45° aluminum crown race into the build, so your lower headset bearing will need to be compatible with this race. Ritchey and several other manufacturers offer compatible headsets. Chris King headsets employ a 36° bearing race, and Ritchey does make an adapter (Ritchey# 55050007025) so you can use a King headset. Ritchey includes a carbon fork compression plug with the WCS Carbon Cross Cantilever Fork.
