WCS Carbon Zero Seatpost
Description
Saddle position drift is one of those small annoyances that turns into a big problem on a long ride, and the Ritchey WCS Carbon Zero Seatpost is built to eliminate it. The redesigned Zero post secures the rails with fore and aft bolts , giving you independent tension on each side of the clamp and a saddle angle that stays locked in whether you're settling into a road position for hours or getting knocked around on chunky gravel. The two-bolt setup also opens up the range of usable tilt, so you can dial in a flatter or nose-down angle without the stepped adjustment you get from a single-bolt cradle.
The shaft is unidirectional carbon fiber with a matte UD finish, offered in 27.2, 30.9, and 31.6mm diameters at 400mm total length with 100mm of minimum insertion. An oblong internal shaft diameter puts thicker walls where the post needs strength and removes material where it doesn't , which is how Ritchey keeps the weight at 200 grams in the 27.2mm size without giving up stiffness at the clamp interface. Zero offset puts the saddle rails directly over the centerline of the post, useful if you're already running your saddle slammed forward on a setback post or if your frame's seat tube angle already puts you where you want to be.
A few numbers worth committing to memory before you install this one. Saddle clamp bolts torque to 7Nm max, and the seat collar tops out at 6Nm — or 7Nm if you're clamping it in a Ritchey steel frame. Snug the two saddle bolts progressively rather than fully tightening one at a time, which balances the tension across the rails and lets you fine-tune the angle as you go. Carbon assembly paste on the post-to-frame interface is a good idea for slip resistance without over-torquing the collar.
