Description
Lock-on grips solve the fundamental problem of rubber sleeves that rotate under load or creep outward over months of riding. The Ritchey WCS Ergo HD grips use a single aluminum clamp at the inboard end to secure the grip to the handlebar, eliminating the twist that undermines confidence during technical descents or aggressive out-of-saddle efforts. The ergonomic profile builds additional material beneath the heel of your palm where pressure concentrates, reducing the nerve compression that leads to hand numbness on longer rides.
The HD designation in Ritchey's grip lineup indicates a higher-durometer rubber compound compared to their standard Ergo grips. This firmer material trades some vibration absorption for increased durability and a more direct steering feel—preferences that tend to split along riding style lines. Riders who prioritize precise handling and grip longevity generally favor the firmer compound, while those focused on comfort over rough terrain might prefer the standard-durometer version. Both use the same ergonomic shape and single-clamp retention system.
Installation requires only a 3mm hex wrench for the single clamp bolt, and the open inboard design allows bar-end plugs or accessories to mount without interference. The grip diameter and clamp system work with standard 22.2mm mountain bike handlebars, fitting both flat and riser configurations without compatibility concerns.... Read More
