Description
Lock-on grips solve a problem that plagues bar tape and slip-on alternatives: rotation under load. The Ritchey WCS Ergo Locking Grips use aluminum collars at each end that cinch directly to the handlebar with bolts, eliminating any chance of the grip spinning when you're pulling hard on a climb or loading the bar through rough terrain. Once installed, they stay exactly where you position them until you decide to remove them.
The ergo shape distinguishes these from round-profile grips by providing a flattened section that supports the outer palm and distributes pressure across a wider contact area. Riders who experience hand numbness on longer rides often find relief with this profile because it reduces the concentrated pressure points that round grips create. The WCS compound balances tackiness with durability—grippy enough to maintain purchase without gloves, firm enough to resist rapid wear from abrasive conditions.
Installation requires removing the inner collar bolt, sliding the grip onto a clean bar, and threading the bolt back down. Most riders can complete the swap in under five minutes with a single hex wrench. The locking mechanism also simplifies grip angle adjustments—loosen both collars, rotate to your preferred position, and retighten. If you've ever struggled with hairspray-and-slide installation methods for traditional grips, the lock-on system feels almost unreasonably simple by comparison.... Read More
