Description

Saddle shell shape determines how your sit bones interact with the platform, and the Ritchey WCS Streem takes a specific approach by combining a flat profile with a generous center cutout. The flat shell eliminates the curved rear section found on many road saddles, which works well for riders who maintain a consistent pelvic angle rather than rotating their hips frequently during efforts. The center cutout runs nearly the full length of the saddle, relieving pressure on soft tissue without requiring you to find a specific sweet spot—the relief channel is wide enough that minor position shifts don't move you onto the saddle's solid sections.

The Streem uses a carbon-reinforced polymer shell bonded to titanium rails, which represents a middle ground between the weight savings of full carbon rails and the durability of chromoly steel. Titanium handles the flex loads that rails experience without the brittleness concerns that make some riders hesitant about carbon rail saddles for everyday use. The WCS designation puts this in Ritchey's performance tier, one step below their superlight SuperLogic line but above the entry-level Comp components.

Padding depth sits on the minimal end of the spectrum. The thin foam layer over the carbon-reinforced shell provides enough compliance to smooth out road vibration without creating the hammock effect that thicker padding produces. Riders who prefer a more direct connection to the bike—particularly those already adapted to firmer saddles—will find the Streem's padding level familiar. If you're transitioning from a heavily padded saddle, expect an adjustment period as your body adapts to the reduced cushioning.... Read More
