Description
Gravel wheelsets live in a wide territory — from sub-1400g carbon race builds to bombproof alloy hoops built for loaded bikepacking — and the WCS Zeta GX Disc from Ritchey lands in the middle ground where most riders actually spend their time. It's a hand-built aluminum wheelset with a 25mm internal width, DT Swiss Competition double-butted spokes, and Ritchey's updated WCS hubs running a 36-point ratchet driver. Tom Ritchey designed the original Zeta as a do-everything alloy wheel; the GX version takes that template wider and tougher for gravel duty.
The rim is 6066 aluminum with a 25mm inner and 29mm outer width, tubeless-ready from the factory with tape pre-installed. That internal width seats gravel tires from roughly 32mm up through 50mm without the bead-roll issues narrower rims introduce when you drop pressure for traction. Ritchey's OCR (Off-Center Rim) drilling shifts the spoke holes off the rim's centerline, which equalizes spoke tension between drive-side and non-drive-side and produces a more evenly tensioned wheel — the kind of detail that pays off over years of riding rather than showing up on a scale.
The wheelset ships in two hub spacing configurations. The 12x100mm front and 12x142mm rear fits most gravel and endurance road frames running standard thru-axles. The 15x110mm front and 12x148mm rear option covers boost-spaced frames, which have become increasingly common as gravel geometry borrows clearance ideas from mountain bikes. Both builds use the same rim and spoke pattern — only the hub shells and end caps differ.... Read More
