Description

4 watts sounds modest until you calculate what it means at sprint speeds—roughly 32 centimeters over a 250-meter finishing kick. The Roval Rapide Cockpit claims that advantage over a two-piece aero bar and stem combination by eliminating the hardware cluster where stem meets handlebar, shaping the entire leading edge as a continuous airfoil. The one-piece carbon construction also drops 50 grams compared to the separate Rapide bar and Tarmac SL7 stem it replaces.

The bar geometry mirrors the standalone Rapide handlebar that's become a World Tour favorite. Drop measures 127mm with 75mm of reach—compact dimensions that work for most hand sizes and riding positions. The 4 degrees of outward flare at the drops opens up the wrist angle slightly during sprints without dramatically changing the feel from a traditional bend. The radius between tops and drops has been sculpted for wrist clearance whether you're out of the saddle hammering or tucked into the drops on a descent.

Fit options span 15 stem and bar combinations, from 75mm x 380mm up to 135mm x 420mm, all with a -6 degree stem angle. One thing to note: the cockpit's stem section sits higher than a traditional stem at the same angle, so some riders find it positions the hands similarly to a steeper negative angle despite the -6 degree specification. If you're building on a Tarmac SL7, you'll need the transition spacer (sold separately) to bridge the gap between the frame's proprietary headset cover and the cockpit's 40mm steerer clamp height....
