Description
The 105 PD-7000 pedals are a decedent of the Ultegra PD-8000 platform and shares most of the same features, making this a great choice for almost any rider. The big news here is the inclusion of a carbon fiber pedal body and lower stack height with an Ultegra-inspired stainless steel platform plate. This almost-Ultegra pedal should be considered for most performance levels and those on a budget.
The 105 SPD-SL pedal system has a wide 70mm effective platform that efficiently delivers exceptional power uniformly to the 56mm long axle. The CFRP carbon fiber bodies are seriously durable and inherently stiff, allowing the PD-R7000 to be lighter weight and more clearance. Shimano engineers bonded three strategically placed special stainless plates to the body to protect the carbon and allow the cleat to glide smoothly over the plate when in contact. What Shimano learned is that the removable plates could loosen, or be damaged in extreme situations, basically never wore out or really needed to be replaces, so only specific contact points were required, not a full plate. Pedal internals include quality cartridge bearings and a hardened chromoly steel axle. The PD-7000 tips the scales and a respectable 265 grams and includes a complete set of Shimano SM-SH11 cleats and hardware. Return to Top
