Rather than manufacturing and stocking multiple charger versions with hardwired regional cords, they produce one universal charger that accepts region-specific cables. The SM-BCC1-2 is the version for the United States and Canada, featuring the standard two-prong Type-A plug that fits any household outlet in North America.

The cable connects to the SM-BCR1 external battery charger used with the original SM-BTR1 external Di2 battery found on Dura-Ace 7970 and Ultegra 6770 systems. One end has the figure-8 IEC C7 connector that plugs into the charger base, and the other end is the familiar flat two-prong plug for North American 120V outlets. At 2 meters long, the cable provides enough reach to set up a charging station on a workbench without needing the outlet positioned directly behind the charger dock.

Beyond Di2, this same cable also works with Shimano's EC-E6002 charger for STEPS e-bike systems.
