This is a genuine Shimano replacement, not an aftermarket copy, so tooth profiles and shift ramps match what the front derailleur was tuned to move across from the factory.

Type designation matters more than tooth count when you order. The 34T carries MA designation and pairs with the 50T outer for compact gearing. The 36T uses MB and works with the 52T mid-compact outer. The 38T MC pairs with the 52T outer for a mid-compact setup with tighter gear steps. The 39T MD is the traditional standard-gearing partner to the 53T outer. The 42T ME is the inner ring for both the 54/42T and 55/42T large-ring configurations.
