The 1x gravel drivetrain removed a lever, but it didn't remove the need for a proper left-hand brake — and Shimano's answer for the current GRX 12-speed generation is the BL-RX820. This set pairs the brake-only left lever with the matching BR-RX820 flat mount caliper, pre-bled with mineral oil and ready to install as a front brake on a 1x mechanical build. It's the piece that lets you run the full GRX RX820 12-speed group without a front derailleur cluttering up the left hood.

The lever hood shape carries over from the shifting version of GRX, so a 1x cockpit looks and feels symmetrical from the tops. The hood is textured with an anti-slip coating that holds grip when your palms are sweaty, wet, or dusty, and the pivot geometry is tuned for flared drop bars where your hands naturally sit slightly outboard. Reach is adjustable at the lever body to dial in the blade position for smaller hands or larger gloves, and free stroke can be adjusted as well to set how much lever travel happens before the pads contact the rotor.

Servo Wave sits at the heart of the actuation. The pivot placement produces fast initial pad travel to close the pad gap, then transitions into the power phase of the stroke where lever force translates into clamping force at the caliper.
