Shimano's first fully wireless GRX groupset lands with the RD-RX827 as its centerpiece, and it's essentially a rebadged Deore XT Di2 M8200 rear derailleur adapted for drop-bar duty. That lineage matters — this isn't a road derailleur with more clearance, it's a mountain bike derailleur wearing a GRX badge, which means the impact protection, the wide-range capacity, and the wireless architecture all come straight from Shimano's newest MTB Di2 platform. Pair it with a 10-51T cassette and you get a 510% gear range on a 1x drivetrain, which covers the ground between a paved neutral zone and a 15% fire road climb without asking you to compromise on either end.

The RD-RX827 uses Shimano's new SHADOW ES architecture, a slimmer evolution of the SHADOW RD+ chain stabilizer that shrinks the profile without giving up chain retention or noise reduction. The wedge-shaped body deflects impacts rather than absorbing them head-on, a skid plate on the underside takes the hit when you clip a rock, and the aluminum pulley cage runs 13-tooth sealed-bearing pulleys. Automatic Impact Recovery is the interesting one — when the derailleur takes a strike, the motor unit returns it to its original gear position automatically so you keep riding instead of stopping to eyeball the hanger.

Compatibility is narrow on purpose. The RD-RX827 works with ST-RX825 GRX 12-speed Di2 shifters and also pairs with ST-R9270, ST-R8170, and ST-R7170 road Di2 shifters if you're running a mixed build.
